THIS WEEK: Bleach Festival: Live music, performances, cinema, sunset BBQs, art exhibitions, kids events – a host of great stuff going on just over the border at Coolangatta and the Southern Gold Coast. The fun starts March 7 until March 23. Find out what’s on here.

Australian Longboard Surfing Open: amateurs (that’s anyone who’s non-pro), get waxin’ for the upcoming comp at Kingscliff in March. Categories include Under 18s, Over 40s, Over 50s, Over 60s and Women Open. Details here.

Urbenville Village Festival: Market stalls, facepainting, live music, kids’ events and entertainment. Enter a competition on the day – iron man, tug-o-war, bull pat throwing and fence-post ripping all offering prizes and trophies. Sunday May 11, Urbenville Showgrounds , Urbenville. Free.

THIS WEEK: 2 Doors Down – a uniquely Australian comedy drama which deals with one family’s attempt to cope with life over the Christmas break. We’ve all been there – too much sun, alcohol and in-laws – but this family has an added stress: it’s one year on since a devastating tragedy. The audience are treated to a crackling two acts that take an honest and humorous look at issues not often acknowledged in families, such as the way we handle sex, death and each other. Various performances from March 7, tickets $15. Details here.
